Accra, May 27, GNA - The Minister of Health, Major Courage Quashigah (rtd) has ordered the closure of the manufacturing premises of Song Lin Beverages Limited sited at the Spintex Road for operating under deplorable and unhygienic conditions.

The action of the Minister was based on the advice of the Food and Drugs Board (FDB), which found that the Company also used expired flavours in production and did not adhere to good manufacturing practices.

A statement signed by Mr E. K. Agyarko, Chief Executive of FDB, said the workers had not been medically certified to handle food and the Company's products were not registered with the Board. "The Board is, therefore, unable to guarantee the quality and safety of the products manufactured by the said company." The statement said the Board had directed the Company to recall all of its products from the market.

The products include Songlin Classic Food Stuff; Songlin Fruit Ice; Songlin Strawberry Milk; Songlin Sweet Taste Milk; Songlin Ice and Songlin Ice Cream.

"While the Board takes these necessary regulatory measures, it will like to advise the general public not to patronise any of the aforementioned products until further notice," the statement said.
