The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has highlighted significant achievements recorded during his first year in office.

In a post shared on his X page on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, he noted that notable progress in the health sector includes the passage of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund Bill, popularly referred to as the MahamaCares Bill, and the prompt payment of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) claims

“I attended the Ministry of Health’s End-of-Year Staff Durbar, where I expressed appreciation to staff for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.

"It was also an opportunity to highlight key achievements recorded during the year, including the passage of the MahamaCares Bill, the prompt payment of NHIS claims, reduction in fees for nursing training schools, and ensuring the payment of salaries for 13,500 nurses whose financial clearance had expired achievements we collectively attained as a ministry and a nation", he noted.

Mintah Akandoh reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the health sector.

“I further reaffirmed Government’s commitment to resetting the health sector through strategic retooling, the commencement of construction of three regional hospitals, and the introduction of free health services beginning next year,” the post added.
