Health workers asked to intensify education on maternal mortality

Sept 8, Takoradi, GNA - Dr (Mrs) Linda Vanotoo, Western Regional Director of Health, on Tuesday called on the country's health workers to intensify the sensitisation and education on the prevention of maternal mortality.

She also asked them to educate the people on the need to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to have access to health care delivery.

Dr (Mrs) Vanotoo made the call when executives of the Regional Health Service Workers Union (HSWU) paid a courtesy call on her, in connection with the Union's 45th anniversary celebration, in Takoradi.

She appealed to health workers to ensure professionalism, teamwork and innovation for quality health care delivery.

Mr Samuel Benle Christian, Senior Industrial Relations Officer for, said that the Union, which was formed in 1965, aims at promoting the welfare of its members and ensuring good industrial relations within the health sector.

Members of the Union undertook a clean-up exercise at the Takoradi Hospital as part of the union's week-long celebrations.

The Union also presented a 29-inch colour Television set to the Takoradi Hospital, which was received by Dr Fred Adjie Atubuah, Medical Director of the hospital.
