There is a heavy military presence at the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional Elections being held at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
Both the entrance and the exit roads to the venue have stationed armored vehicles with gun-wielding soldiers who are leaving nothing to chance.
More than three long buses brought in dozens of police officers. Principal streets leading to the stadium are manned by security men with a standby team in another armored car.
At least more than four security men are deployed to a spot inside the stadium and as many as 15 combined forces stand at the main gates.

A total of 51 persons are seeking to contest for only ten elective slots for the regional positions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region MyNewsGH.com has confirmed.
At the close of vetting a weeks ago, the 51 were the only aspirants found to be eligible to contest for the positions in what promises to be one of the keenest contests in the history of the party in the region.
Regional Communications Officer, Issahaku Abdul Latif who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with MyNewsGH.com added that five others are in the race with outspoken Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu for his position.
They include; Mohammed A Baantima Samba who has been tipped by many as the favourite to give the incumbent a run for his money, Alhaji Abdallah Hindu who is the current Regional Organiser, Alhaji Mugisu Sibawey a serial contestant for the Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu the incumbent and Amadu Inusah Dagomba Boy the Yendi Constituency Chairman.
