Help curb the spread of HINI flu in C/R-DCE

Kasoa (C/R), April 5, GNA - Mr Nuhu Adams, District Chief Executive (DCE), for Awutu Senya has urged the authorities to help curb the spread of the HINI flu that has hit some communities in the Central Region. He advised the people of the area to adopt simple measures such as washing their hands with soap, avoid sleeping in overcrowded rooms and reporting any flu symptoms to the health authorities, to avoid catching the HINI virus.

Mr Adams made the call in an address read for him at the close of a four day Central Territorial Easter Convention of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) at Kasoa.

Mr Adams said reports indicated that, 12 out of 15 students suspected of catching the flu had proved positive after being tested at the Nugochi Memorial Research Institute in Accra.

He urged parents and guardians to impress upon their children to wash their hands with soap before taking their meals whiles efforts are being made by the government to curb the spread of the flu. The DCE said the symptoms of the flu may include severe colds, cough and sneezing, and urged that such ailments should be reported quickly at any clinic or hospital for treatment.

On development, the DCE cautioned the people to desist from building on water ways to avoid flooding, adding that, it cost the government millions of Cedis to manage disasters. The DCE noted that the District Office of the National Disaster Management of Organization (NADMO) has embarked on educational programmes to sensitize the people on the dangers of flooding with the onset of the raining season.

Apostle K. Mensah Abrampah, Territorial Apostle of CAC urged Christians to use "the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ to repent from their sins which create a barrier between them and their Creator". Apostle Abrampah said 15 students had benefited from the educational endowment fund instituted by the church, to sponsor needy but brilliant students in secondary and tertiary institutions. He called on the youth to concentrate on their education instead of practicing cyber fraud otherwise known as (Sakawa), drug abuse and other social vices that could disturb their future.
