Kumasi, June 9, GNA - Mr Kofi Opoku-Manu, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has appealed to Christians not to limit their ministry to only Bible teaching and the spiritual development of the people but also their physical needs. He said the Church as an integral part of the community should join in the fight to reduce poverty and create wealth. This entails assisting the people to identify, plan and take action to improve their socio-economic situation through the building of schools, health facilities and sinking of boreholes among other things. Mr Opoku-Manu was speaking at the silver jubilee celebration of the Asante Presbytery Men's Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) in Kumasi. "Let us rise up and build - the role of men" was the theme. The Minister asked the church to work in genuine partnership with the state to promote discipline in the society and bring progress to the people. He commended the Presbyterian Church for its contribution to the nation's development. The Reverend Peter Kofi Nyarko, Minister in-charge of the Bantama Presbyterian Church, praised the Fellowship for working hard to raise the image of the church. 09 June 10
