The Ghana Health Service (GHS) is appealing to the general public to participate and support the nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign scheduled for October 7 to 11, 2025.
According to a 3news.com report on September 23, 2025, the Director-General of the GHS, Prof Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, urged parents and guardians to embrace the initiative to protect their wards.
About 3 million girls aged 9 to 14 years are expected to be vaccinated during the campaign, which seeks to protect adolescent girls against cervical cancer.
“More than 3,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year in Ghana. It is the most common cancer in women after breast cancer and the leading cause of cancer deaths among women,” Prof Akoriyea said.
