The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has been making headlines in the past week over developments surrounding his personal life.

The lawmaker, who is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), generated buzz after reports emerged that he held a private traditional marriage ceremony over the weekend with his partner, Dr Charis.

The ceremony, which was reportedly attended by close family and friends, quickly sparked conversations online as congratulatory messages poured in for the couple across various social media platforms.

However, in the aftermath of the ceremony, the lawmaker has also become the subject of public debates, particularly on social media, following allegations made by a female TikTok content creator.

In a video that has since gone viral, the woman claimed that the NPP MP allegedly contacted her about five months ago and took her out on a date.

“This man was in my DM not long ago. I would say five months, and I come to TikTok today to realize that this man is married to another woman. Honestly, I don't even know what to say. I don't know what to do. But this man was in my DM,” she alleged.

According to her, their interactions began after she had frequently spoken about being single on social media.

“I've been complaining of being single for a long time so he sent me a DM on Instagram. This is the evidence… when he texted me, he texted me in a way of being interested in me as a woman and of course, I was interested in him because before a guy sends me a DM and I'll even reply, I go on your page, look at your pictures or videos. If I'm okay, I'll reply your DM. So, I did look at his pictures. I did look at his videos,” she continued.

The TikTok creator further claimed that the interaction progressed to the point where they went out on a date.

“I went on a date with this man. I asked him, are you married? He said, no. I asked him, do you have kids, because the way he is old and his stature, I was doubting, in case he has kids somewhere, so, I asked, do you have kids? He said, no,” she stated.

She also added that they had what she described as a pleasant outing and that the MP paid the bill.

“We went on a beautiful date. It was nice. He paid the bill and all those kinds of things. This is evidence that I met him. You can even see that he asked me of the bill,” she added.

Recounting further details of the alleged encounter, the woman claimed that the MP briefly stepped away during the date to take a phone call.

“At the date, he said he wanted to answer an urgent call so he left me at the restaurant and he went to stand outside for a long time. So, I was inside the place eating and when I finished, he texted me asking about the bill. I said the bill was 500 cedis,” she claimed.

According to her, their conversations were cordial and she initially thought the interactions could develop into a serious relationship.

However, she claimed she eventually blocked the MP after he allegedly made a request she was uncomfortable with.

“We had beautiful conversations. And on that day, I thought, you know, it would lead to marriage because I liked him. Right now, I've blocked him and the main reason I blocked him is because when we met on the first date, he was like spend a night with me,” the lady accused the MP.

The lady said she refused and only later realised through TikTok that he is married.

The video has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some netizens calling for clarification, while others questioned the timing of the claims following the MP’s recent marriage.
