High Court adjourns case on Peace FM

An Accra High Court has adjourned, indefinitely, a case in which the management of Peace FM, an Accra Radio station, is seeking its order to quash a directive of the National Media Commission to change its name or risk having its frequency allocation suspended.

The High Court judge, Mr Justice Richard Apaloo, was compelled to adjourn sine-die due to a misdemeanor on the part of the Lawyer representing the applicants, Mr Seffah Clottey, who appeared in court without his briefs on the case. Counsel for the National Media Commission, Mr Nutsifafa Kuenyehia, was also not in court when the case was called. Mr Seffah Clottey told the court that the applicants, Peace-FM, wanted the matter to be laid to rest for all Parties in the case to know their stand.

This is the second time the Management of Peace FM has sought a court order to overturn the directive of the Media Commission. The court, for want of merit, threw out the first application for an order of certiorari. The Media Commission recently ordered the applicants to change their name, Peace FM since it conflicts with the already registered name of Radio Peace based at Winneba, in the Central Region.
