Kumasi, Sept. 3, GNA - A Kumasi High Court on Thursday, August 28, 2003, refused a certiorari application filed by Nana Owusu Achiaw Prempeh, the destooled Juasohene.

The court presided over by Mr Justice Baffoe Bonnie, said it will give full reasons on Tuesday, September 9. Cost of three million cedis was also awarded against Nana Achiaw Prempeh.

Nana Owusu Achiaw Prempeh filed the certiorari asking the court to quash the judgements of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, which confirmed his destoolment by the Juaben Traditional Council in 1998. The kingmakers of Juaso namely Nana Agyemang Serebour II, Ankobeahene, Nana Oware Kankam, Adontenhene, Nana Amoah Owusu, Benkumhene and Nana Osei Boansi, Adenkyemenasehene, filed 21 destoolment charges against him in 1998 at the Juaben Traditional Council.

Some of the charges were insubordination to the Golden Stool by refusing to appear before the late Asantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II, sale of stool lands without accounting for the proceeds and disrespect to the elders of the Juaso stool.

The Juaben Traditional Council found him guilty and consequently destooled him but this did not go down well with him and, therefore, appealed to the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, which on June 4, 2003, again confirmed the decision of the Juaben Traditional Council.
