Professor Frimpong Boateng, a Ghanaian Physician and Cardiothoracic Surgeon has stated that the alarming unemployment rate in the country coupled with the high rate of corruption "is a recipe for disaster".
According to him, the youth in the country are frustrated and urged the leaders to act quickly to forestall any possible violence.
“The population is increasing, and there are no jobs and so on and the young people are frustrated…in other words those of us in a position to take decisions in the interest of the future generation, we have to do it otherwise we may not be able to face the consequences in future.
“When they [youth] see the obvious corruption that is around then it is a recipe for disaster.
"There should be a national agenda, people should be seen to be doing the right thing and the nation should define clearly the national goals and how we would get there.”
The former CEO of the Korle Bu Cardiothoracic Unit said this in an interview with Starr News after delivering a lecture at the 4th Annual Oil and Gas International Conference organized by The Oil and Gas Engineering Department of the All Nations University College in Koforidua.
