Ho, Sept. 19, GNA- Captain George Nfodjo (rtd), Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central, on Wednesday presented four sets of jerseys and four footballs as part of items costing 4, 100 Ghana cedis to the Festival Planning Committee, in support of this year's Asogli Yam Festival.
The MP also donated 1,000 Ghana cedis to the Planning Committee, 500 Ghana cedis for the sponsoring of an essay competition for school children in basic schools in the Asogli State and 90 plastic chairs to the various traditional areas comprising the Asogli State. Presenting the items, Capt. Nfodjo said the celebration of the festival had ensured the unity and socio-economic development of the Asogli State over the years.
He observed that the celebration in recent times had improved the economic status of the people in the Asogli State.
The MP said the festival also plays an important role in enlightening the youth on their roots and the history of their forebears and urged citizens of Asogli to contribute to the success of the event. Mr David Bansah, Vice-Chairman of the Planning Committee, commended the MP for his contribution towards the celebration of the festival and said the event was not only for citizens of the Asogli State. He therefore, called on people from other traditional areas to take part in the celebration.
He promised that all donations made to the Planning Committee would be used to enhance this year's celebrations.
