Ho, Jun 3, GNA - Primaries for the election of a Parliamentary Candidate to contest the December election on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket in the Ho-Central Constituency scheduled for Thursday June 3, has been postponed.

Mr Ken Kodzo Ayim, Assistant Regional Secretary of the Party, could not give definite reasons for the postponement when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) called at the regional office to make enquiries, after meeting nobody at the venue of the elections.

He, however, said that the National Headquarters, which gave the directive, might want constituency executives elected before the primaries.

Mr Robert Atamah, Ho District Electoral Officer, said though his office was invited to conduct the primaries, he had not been informed of its postponement.

He said the primaries could not have been conducted since the names of the delegates as well as the contestant had not been supplied to the EC.

Mr Atamah said since the letter of invitation was delivered, the Party had made no further contact with EC office.

Affairs of the Ho-Central Constituency of the NPP had been characterised by factional wrangling resulting in suits at the law courts.

At one time the constituency had two set of Executives elected by two different congresses with different set of delegates.
