Ho Municipality to have affordable houses and offices complex

Ho, Dec. 2, GNA - The Ho Municipal Assembly is holding talks with a team of consultants from South Africa towards the construction of affordable housing units and a new assembly offices complex at Sokode-Lokoe near Ho. Mr Isaac Kodobisah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, said this at the second meeting of the third session of the fifth Assembly in Ho. He said he Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has also proposed to construct an abattoir and central market and rehabilitate some roads in the municipality as well as build a two-lane carriageway from OLA traffic light to Deme.

"Let us keep our fingers crossed and hope that the proposals will be accepted and projects taken on board." Mr Kodobisah said. "Ho is already benefiting from a regional capitals streetlight project and by the time the project is completed, the look of the town would change", he said

Dr. Nana Anderson, leader of the South African team, said the Company to undertake the housing and Assembly complex projects was waiting for the go-ahead from the assembly to start the projects. He said the company would employ and train local artisans to execute the projects.

The assembly approved 3,339,100.00 Ghana cedis to finance the expenditure for the year 2010. The projection is made up of grants of 2,689,200.00 and locally generated revenue of 649,900.00 representing 80.54 per cent and 19.46 per cent respectively.
