Professor Benjamin Hornyenuga, Vice-Chancellor of the Ho Technical University (HTU) has called on the academic world to speed up innovations on learning methods that fit into the digital era.

He said that had become necessary in the wake of COVID-19 with the closure of schools whereas, “education must go on all the same.”

The Vice-Chancellor said this when Zoomlion Ghana Limited disinfected the campus of University as part of infection control measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.

He said the University had repositioned to neutralize the negative impact of the Coronavirus lockdown on academic progress and introduced a learning management system to facilitate virtual learning.

The Vice-Chancellor added that some Departments of the University had been commissioned to support the local production of tools and materials to fight the disease.

Armed with spraying machines and road sweeping equipment, a team from the waste management company sanitized the entire campus including roads and walkways, with special attention to frequently used surfaces and shared spaces.

The disinfection support comes as a corporate social responsibility of Zoomlion, and expected to cover major educational institutions, as well as some commercial, and public centres.
