Hohoe, Sept 30, GNA - Mr Kenwuud Nuworsu, Volta Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has told people seeking political positions in the party not to do damage to the party and its structures. He called on the rank and file of the party to exercise maximum decorum to avoid endangering the party's structures and constitution. Mr Nuworsu, who was addressing a delegates' conference of the Hohoe South Constituency of NPP at Ve-Golokwati, said cracks had the potential to divide the party.
He appealed to aspirants at the regional, national and presidential levels to conduct themselves above reproach since the party was supreme. Mr Nuworsu said members should rise up to the occasion because the party was in its trying moments. "This was the first time elections are being held at the constituency, regional and national levels". Mr John Peter Amewu, Hohoe District Chief Executive, said elections are typical demonstration of grassroots participation in decision-making and governance and they should be devoid of antagonism.
He appealed to the new executives to gird their loins for future challenges that should guarantee victory in 2008. Mr Hayford E. Kugblenu was elected Chairman with Mr Francis Aggroh and Mr Valintine Katsa Quarshie emerging as first and second vice chairmen respectively.
