An eight-year-old boy Nana Kwame left home alone, on Friday morning escaped a deadly fire outbreak in his family apartment unhurt in Saki.

Nana Kwame told the Ghana News Agency, in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, that he was indoors reading when he saw fire raging out of his father's bedroom.

According to him, he managed to get out of the apartment and shouted for help.

'My father always put every switch off. I don't know what would have caused the fire. My dad even hides the television remote, "he noted.

Residents upon seeing smoke billowing from the apartment, moved in to fight the fire.

Mr. Gashon Abeka, a resident, opined that it took the efforts and communal spirit of the locals to fight the fire.

He mentioned that the source of the fire could not be traced as no gadget was spotted in the room.

Mr. Abeka said the Ghana National Fire Service personnel were called but came after the residents had doused the fire.

An officer at the Community 25 Fire Station, said the distress caller could not give accurate direction hence their late arrival.

He added that the officers would take charge of the situation and conduct investigation to unravel the cause of the fire.

Properties and some portions of the house were ravaged by the fire.
