HomeMakers Pro awards 17 Staff

Ghana's leading Home Management Services Provider, HomeMakers Pro, as part of efforts to lift the image of home management professionals and make their jobs attractive and satisfying, have instituted annual awards to appreciate its professional staff.

In the maiden edition of the breathtaking event organised on the premises of the industry leader at South Odorkor, 17 professional staff from Caregiving, Housekeeping, Nanny, Driving, Security among other categories took away 32-40 inches TV sets and cash prizes for their exceptional performance in the year 2019.

The Overall Best Pro Prize went to Abigail Korley with a 32 inch TV, Rice Cooker and Ghc500 cash. Best Driver and Most Disciplined Pro Awards went to Simon Asare with 32 Inch TV and a Microwave respectively.

Francisca Ofosu-Dankwa, Patience Amedekayan and Joseph Nyarko took the Most Promising Nanny, Best Caregiver and Best Housekeeper Awards with Microwave Oven, 32 Inch TV and 32 Inch TV respectively as their prizes.

The rest are Best Cook - Mary Wakan - 32 inch TV, Longest-Serving Pro - Dennis Ofori - 32 inch TV, Most Loyal Pro - Mary Konadu - Microwave Oven and Appreciation to Hostel security - Lazarus Abraham - 32inch TV

Mr Vincent HK, a professional housekeeping trainer also received a 40 inch TV for his dedication.

The wards were accompanied with medals and certificates. Others received certificates of performance and hampers.

Speaking at the event, Mr Nathaniel Johnson, Group CEO at Supreme Hospitality Limited, the parent company of HomeMakers Pro said, "this was meant to show appreciation to our hard-working Pros. It will be an annual programme to boost the pros of morale and performance."

According to him, HomeMakers Pro is a game-changer that is committed to changing the face of home management services in Ghana. "The space now requires well-trained professionals and not the unschooled or untrained JSS graduates people brought from rural areas to serve them abysmally in the cities, " he observed.

Mr Johnson said that their studies have revealed that the home management industry alone is capable of helping reduce youth unemployment very significantly. But, to do that we have to go beyond training good professionals to treat them with respect and dignity.

"Many young people are not attracted to the home management field because of the low dignity associated with the jobs there. This is part of what HomeMakers Pro is changing to make the place attractive to the youth," he explained.

Mr Johnson further called on Government to collaborate with Homemakers in the Training and employment of home management professionals. He is optimistic that this fast-growing area will reduce unemployment among senior high and tertiary education graduates.

"Government could task Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and Members of Parliament (MPs) as part of their Special Initiatives Development to get the SHS graduates in their vicinities enroll on this additional vocation programme to enable them gain immediate employment in the Home Management and care Industry," he suggested.

Mr Johnson said, "the HomeMakers Pro job creation concept is also designed to temporarily employ trained nurses who have not been placed and are waiting for placement. This can help ease Government nurse's placement headache while giving some relief to the trained but not placed nurses."

HomeMakers Pro was adjudged the Best Achiever in Home Care Services and Management at the Fifth Fifth Ghana Feminine Awards in 2019.
