Mr. Joseph Henry Mensah, Senior Minister, at the weekend exhorted Ghanaians to honour their tax obligations to enable the government to effectively manage the national economy.
“All citizens who have the obligation to pay taxes would honour their civic responsibilities so that the government will have the money to keep its promises to the nation”, he said.
Mr. Mensah was speaking in Sunyani at a durbar to climax the celebration of the Silver Jubilee anniversary of Saint James Seminary/ Secondary School, which was under the theme, “Education and Discipline – Keys to National Development”.
The Senior Minister said the governmental machinery was on course towards the resuscitation of the economy, but called on Ghanaians to seek for divine intervention and contribute their quota as individuals to ensure total economic prosperity for the country.
He deplored the age-long attitude that “government is somebody somewhere who has the sole responsibility to solve the problems of the country”, stressing “we must collectively find solutions as a nation through honesty, sacrifice and hard work”.
