HOSPITALIZATION OF HON. J. O. OBETSEBI-LAMPTEY, MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND PRESIDENTIAL AFFAIRS
I am pleased to state that rumours of my state of health have been grossly distorted and exaggerated.
The truth is that I reported some worrying symptoms to my doctor on Sunday 8th February 2003. He advised that I admit myself into hospital for checks to be carried out.
I was admitted to the Cardio Thoracic Unit at Korle Bu on the Sunday afternoon. On the Monday a laparoscopy revealed the source of my problem, which was the result of an adverse reaction to pain killers I had taken for my lower back pains and treatment continued appropriately.
The doctors took advantage of my admission to carry out a number of further checks. Thankfully nothing of great moment was found and I have been accordingly discharged.
On my doctor’s advice to get as much rest as possible, I shall resume full duties on Monday 24th February 2003.
