Founder and President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe
The feud between the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) and IMANI Africa seems to have no end in sight, as the founder and president of the policy think-tank, Franklin Cudjoe has taken another swipe at the electoral body.
The EC and IMANI have been at odds for months, initially over the disposal of election equipment that the policy and education think tank indicated was perfectly working.
Recently, the two entities have been clashing over the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lolobi, and Likpe (SALL) not voting in the 2020 parliamentary election, with IMANI accusing the EC of disenfranchising them.
In a Facebook post shared on Monday, May 20, 2024, the founder and President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, while praising the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, could not help but draw in the EC.
Cudjoe commended Oppong Nkrumah for inviting investors interested in the Saglemi Housing project to assess its progress on site, highlighting the minister's transparency and leadership qualities. IMANI said, "This is leadership! Transparent, effective, and hopefully efficient outcome. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah leads!"
Cudjoe then called on the EC to learn from the Works and Housing Minister, suggesting that if the EC had been transparent in disposing of its old equipment, it wouldn't be facing the current criticism.
"The lesson here is - at least in disposing of critical biometric voter machines with sensitive data and auctioning the same, a low trust institution should have done this by inviting the media and political party representatives. That is when it mattered most! That way, there would have been little to no doubts about claims of missing BVR kits!"
