Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare is the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry
The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has stated that producing more goods locally with the right standards, packaging, and certification can significantly boost exports.
She explained that creating a reliable and competitive environment for businesses will enable them to scale up production, generate jobs, and open new opportunities for Ghanaians.
Speaking at the 2026 CEO Summit in Accra, Ofosu-Adjare pointed to technology as another catalyst for trade growth.
Small businesses, she said, are increasingly deploying digital tools, mobile payments, and e-commerce platforms to reach larger audiences and operate more effectively.
According to her, Ghana’s unique position as host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat has given the country a structural advantage.
With the right standards, packaging, certification, and market intelligence, she said, Ghana can position itself as a hub for quality products.
“A good product has made it possible for me, Tamale, Wa, Kumasi or Accra to be able to reach markets across Ghana, Africa, and the world. Our mission goal is to create a new environment. Businesses’ role is to invest in the ability to compete,” she said.
“Ghana’s position as the host of the African Free Trade Area Secretariat gives us a structural advantage as an enterprise that positions us with the right standards, packaging, certification, and market intelligence. Made in Ghana stands for quality, reliability, and consistency through acceleration. An economy that produces more, exports more, and creates better opportunities for our people,” she added.
She underscored the government’s vision of building a resilient economy that harnesses local production, embraces technology, and leverages regional trade frameworks to strengthen Ghana’s role in global markets.
The latest assurance is expected to boost confidence in the private sector as the government seeks to attract more investment, expand production, and drive economic growth.
The Ghana CEO Summit brought together business leaders, policymakers, investors, and industry players to discuss economic transformation, investment opportunities, and strategies for sustaining growth in the country.
