The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency in the Eastern Region, Frank Annoh Dompreh, who doubles as the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, has said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has caused great environmental damage through illegal mining than the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said, “If we are to investigate both sides of the house, you had the opportunity to rule this country before, I can tell you, you polluted the water more than us.”
He made this assertion during an emergency parliamentary sitting on August 4, 2024.
His statement resulted from the issue of illegal mining, popularly referred to as "galamsey," that sparked an intense debate during the sitting.
His remarks have attracted reactions from netizens due to the adverse effects of the illegal trade on the environment and to water bodies.
One X user said “This is high treason. Why the (sic) is NPP still comparing their bad deeds to the NDC who left power eight years ago? These learned leaders are making education very useless. Useless political parties always comparing who did more damage than the other without solving the problem.
"I don't even understand, why compare, Ghanaians said they are not doing well as a government, as matter of fact NPP convinced as that NDC were incompetent, it been almost 8yrs and you are still comparing yourself with the people you said they incompetent, they take as for a joke," another user stated.
Another also said, "Africa politicians belong to the same Whatapp group. They are not different from the other especially west Africa."

What is really wrong with these people in leadership positions? We dont care who messed up more than the other. We want solutions and not finger pointing. Cant we just be forward thinking for once? Ah charley… saying someone did worse so ur mess up is better is just stupid https://t.co/TF7eRdfiab
