Human parts couple denied bail

Cape Coast,Jan.13, GNA- The Cape Coast District Court on Friday again refused to grant bail to the Nigerian couple who were arrested for allegedly possessing human body parts at Amosima, near Cape Coast last year.

The pleas of the suspects, Alhaji Alfa Rashid Bello, 42, and his wife, Fauziatu Bello 37 were not taken and they are to reappear on Monday February 13.

Alhaji Bello, who is a spiritualist, has been remanded into the Ankaful prisons whiles his wife was sent to the Sekondi prisons.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Francis Ockom, prayed the Court presided over by Mr. Kwame Ohemeng Mensah to again remand the couple into prison custody because the Police have not yet completed their investigations.

He said an autopsy report has been forwarded to the Police Administration in Accra whiles waiting a DNA test to be conducted on the body parts.

On Wednesday, August 31, Alhaji Bello and his wife were arrested by the Cape Coast District Police Command for allegedly possessing human body parts at their residence at Amosima, near Cape Coast in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District of the Central Region.

Chief Inspector Ockom explained that the activities of the suspects had been on the Police surveillance for sometime now and that they were arrested upon a swoop carried out by the Police where they found two human heads and a mutilated human body.

He said when the Police entered the room of the suspects, Fauziatu made an attempt to flush some of the body parts but was prevented by the Police and that a careful glance revealed parts of the mutilated body concealed in a hidden sack in the toilet.
