Participants of the 2016 Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention have been urged to cultivate the virtue of humility in their effort to remain loyal to Jehovah.

The participants received teachings from various speakers on how to maintain loyalty in “Thought” (2 Corinthians 10:5), in “Word” (Numbers 14:2, 26, 27) and in “Action” (Psalm 37:27, 28) in order to attract abundant blessings from Jehovah.

The two-day convention which was on the theme: “Remain Loyal to Jehovah”, attracted both members and non-members of Jehovah’s Witnesses including Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

It was held at the Wa Polytechnic Lecture Hall Complex in Wa in the Upper West Region.

Brother Andrews Smith, one of the speakers at the Convention, who spoke on how to maintain loyalty in “Thought”, said Jehovah cherished humility and that one who exhibited true humility got help from Jehovah in order for him or her to continue to remain loyal to him.

He said the challenge, however, was that human beings were imperfect and because of that it is difficult to exercise that loyalty, noting that in such circumstances, the Bible is there to help believers to pull through.

“We want to take every thought to captivity through prayers, regular reading of the Bible and dismissing every wrong thought”, he said.

Brother Smith said after rejecting such thoughts, they needed to put good things in their mind quoting Philippians 4:8, 1 Samuel 24:6 and Psalm 73:3.

Brother David Alhassan, who spoke on how to maintain loyalty in “Word”, said sometimes their loyalty would go unnoticed by people they lived with, but that they should know and be encouraged that Jehovah was aware and would reward them.

“Let us continue to imitate those who do good things and reject Satan and other evil doers”, he said.

Speaking on maintaining loyalty in “Action”, Brother Jason Norman deplored negative speech especially in front of children quoting Numbers 14:2, 26, and 27.

He said the power of speech could be dangerous and cautioned parents and elders to be careful about the comments they make in front of children as such comments could have a negative impact on the future of the children.

Brother Norman also urged all to remain patient and do research to gain knowledge on how to communicate well and control their speech.

Brother Hilary Tachie-Morgan, Chairman of the Convention, said Jehovah deserved “Undivided Loyalty” (1 Chronicles 12:33; Psalm 86:11) from his children whom he had so much love.

Brother Edmond Vidjah, the Convention Media Relations Officer, said the theme: “Remain Loyal to Jehovah”, was carefully chosen for this year’s convention because the issue of loyalty had become a global concern.

“Loyalty is very important when it come to our relationship with Jehovah”, he said.

Brother Vidjah said at the end of the convention, it was expected of participants to improve or put to practice that loyalty to Jehovah.

The messages of various speakers during the convention were complemented with short video messages for emphasis and also to demonstrate how loyalty to Jehovah could be put to practice.
