Okokroko FM 96.9, the leading radio station in Cape Coast, in the Central Region in collaboration with Doctors in Service Clinic and the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital , has organized a donation exercise at the station's premises in Siwdo, to help save lives.

The exercise, dubbed "drop blood to save a life" was aimed at motivating people to donate blood to complement the blood stock at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and the Ghana Blood Bank, formed part of Okokroko fm's 2nd anniversary celebration since they started operations in Cape Coast.

Events manager for Okokroko fm, Mr. Isaac Addison emphasized the relevance of raising blood to support the blood bank, due to the rising number of accidents on the roads of Cape Coast which eventually ends up in the teaching hospital.

Manager for Okokroko fm, Osahene Kwame Dapaah who was impressed with the huge numbers of volunteers who turned up for the exercise, congratulated donors for the love shown on the day. He called on the citizenry to support Okokroko FM in their quest to buy stretchers for the Cape Coast hospital by helping with the little donations and not sit on the fence to watch them do it all.

Administrator for the DIS clinic, Nana Antwi advised Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of donating blood since it comes with a lot of positive effects like reducing high blood pressure, as well as preventing all forms of cancers etc.

In all, over 200 persons donated blood to support the worthy cause spearheaded by Okokroko fm and Doctors in Service Clinic in Cape Coast.
