Hohoe, Aug 26, GNA - Raphael Kofi Agbozo, 36, a farmer at Hohoe, was shot dead by a fellow hunter during hunting expedition last Wenesday in the Abudome forest, behind the Akpatanu ranges in the Hohoe Municipality.

According to Mr Daniel Ablordey, Hohoe Municipal Police Commander, Happy Ametefe, 22, suspect in the case, has been remanded in Police cells, while an Italian made short gun and empty AA cartridge shell, have been retrieved from him to assist in investigation.

Mr Ablordey said Ametefe allegedly shot and killed Agbozo at about 0100 hours on August 20, when he mistook the deceased for a game. He said there had been recent reports of destruction of farm produce by bush pigs in the area, so the two went hunting separately.

According to Mr Ablordey, Ametefe said during the hunting expedition, he heard the sound of a grazing bush pig in a cassava farm and therefore tracked it.

The suspect said, he got closer to a distance of about 60 feet and reckoned the eye by the hunting lamp and shot it only to see a human being lying in a pool of blood.

Mr Ablordey said one locally made single-barreled gun, two torch lights, four live AA cartridges and a piece of sugarcane the deceased was chewing before the incident were retrieved at the scene of the accident.

Meanwhile the deceased body is at the Hohoe Municipal hospital awaiting autopsy.
