Accra, May 9, GNA - Hypersoft Ghana Limited, a private ICT and project management professional service company, has won the World Bank's infoDev Top 50 competition and would represent Ghana at the infoDev Fourth Global Forum in Helsinki, Finland. The competition is open to Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) with innovative products in three priority areas 96 Mobile and ICT; Agribusiness; and Climate Technologies, the infoDev website has reported.
Hypersoft submitted three innovative products 96 SME Records Bank Cloud Computing Project; One-Laptop-Per-Student Project and Project Management Office (PMO) rollout Programme for all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Ghana.
The Judges, who were made up of representatives from International Finance Corporation (IFC) and External Investors /Venture Capitalists, looked at whether the applicants were "investable" by assessing the growth potential; level of innovation and the quality of the team and used professional judgement in their selection of the Top 50 Winners.
In the end, Hypersoft, the only winner from Anglophone West Africa, was selected out of a field of 750 applicants from 65 countries across the globe and would be competing for soft landing prizes and funding to actualise the products.
Other incentives include gaining global recognition as the best of infoDev's more than 21,000 companies in the 330 global incubator networks spanning over 90 countries.
The Chief Executive of Hypersoft, Mr Lonlon Tekpa would have his airfare and accommodation paid for him to participate in the Global Forum in Helsinki.
He would be offered the opportunity to exhibit and network with his peers; financiers and corporate partners, including Venture Capitalists; Angel Investors/networks; Donor Agencies that focus on innovation and entrepreneurship; as well as non-governmental organizations operating in the areas of funding Emerging Markets' Micro and Small Businesses.
Mr Tekpa told the GNA on Monday that the exposure would give his fast-growing ICT and Project Management Consulting Company great visibility and would trigger the expansion of its operations to the rest of Africa.
