President John Dramani Mahama is expected to cut sod to pave way for the construction of the first public university at Somanya, Eastern region.

Funding for the project is from both the GetFund and the Korea Exim Bank. However, the owner on whose land the university is to be constructed has threatened to stop the construction through legal means if she is not compensated.

In an exclusive interview with rainbowradioonline.com, the owner of the 300 acres of land, Mrs. Grace Ama Nyanteh expressed her disappointment in government for failing to compensate her.

She revealed that she sued the Attorney General, Lands Commission, the Eastern Regional Minister and the MCE for failing to inform her before taking over the land for the construction of the university.

Government she explained promised to compensate her hence was advised to withdraw the case but she is yet to be compensated after almost a year she took that decision.

‘’We sent the A-G, Lands Commission, the Regional Minister and the MCE to court and they agreed that they will pay our money to us but up till now, we have not heard anything from them. The only thing we heard this evening is that the president is coming here on Thursday to cut sod for the construction.’’

She expressed her disappointment in government for failing to fulfill its obligation after they withdrew the case.

All efforts to ensure that she receives her compensation she stressed has failed and will have no other option that put a stop to the construction until the payment is made.

‘’I am extremely disappointed because they should have paid my compensation long time ago but nothing has been done so I’m so disappointed, she added.

Efforts are under to speak to her lawyers and government on the matter.
