Chuck Kofi Wayo, popularly known as ?Nima Boy? says he wants to be president of the Republic of Ghana. To achieve his aim, he has filed his nomination on the ticket of the People?s National Convention (PNC) to challenge Dr. Edward Mahama, leader of the party.

At the close of nominations last Saturday March 6, ?Church? had deposited his nomination from and non-refundable fee of ?10million at the PNC Headquarters, Abavana Down, Accra.

Dr. Mahama was the flagbearer of the party in the 1996 and 2000 elections, while MR. Wayo until recently was with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and contested on the party?s parliamentary ticket in the Ayawaso East Constituency in the 2000 elections.

Asked why Dr. Mahama is contesting for the second time, Mr. Pwamang said there was nothing in the party?s constitution that bars qualified members of the party from running as the presidential candidate twice.

?You can choose to run again and again provided you meet the criteria to contest any position in the party,? he said. Mr. Pwamang stated further that the country?s constitution had not specified or said anything concerning the number of times one can contest the flagbearer position of a party. He said MR. Wayo had fulfilled all the requirements of the party which qualifies him to contest any position in the party including the flagbearership position.
