Nsuta (Ash), Dec. 24, GNA- A 20-year-old farmer at Atonsu near Asante-Mampong stunned the Nsuta circuit court when he said the devil influenced him to defile a 10-year-old girl and prayed the court to deal with him leniently.
Sadan Nakodja pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment in hard labour.
Passing sentence, Mr Justice Kofi Akrowiah told Nakodja that he was giving him the minimum sentence because of his age.
Police Inspector Mustapha Donkor told the court that the victim who was staying with her brother was looking for a chance to run away from the town due to constant sexual harassment by a certain old man. He said it, therefore, came as welcome news to her when the accused offered to assist her to join her parents in the northern part of the country.
However, the victim's anticipation turned into a nightmare when instead of the accused helping her to get her parents, he rather lured her to a friend's place at Safoso, and forcibly had sex with her. He said the victim reported her ordeal to the Nsuta police and the accused was arrested.
