The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has stated emphatically that he is not on Facebook, a social media platform.

He consequently admonished the public not to deal with fraudulent people that have created a Facebook account in his name to dupe people.

According to him, deceitful characters have managed to dupe some unsuspecting people of their monies using the fake Facebook account.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame, said some of his colleagues in Parliament are also facing similar problem.

The legislator said he reported the matter to the police but the faceless people behind the scandalous acts seem unperturbed.

Speaking to the media in Kumasi during the yuletide, the Suame MP said, “Some people have created a fake Facebook account in my name, and they are using it to dupe some people of their hard-earned monies and it is bad.

“These people pose as me and demand money from people to get them jobs at COCOBOD and other places, and this thing is affecting my image.

“I have learnt that three Nigerians and one Ghanaian are behind this wicked act, but we are yet to apprehend them to face the law for duping people in my name.

“These fraudsters are stubborn as they create another Facebook account in my name with picture whenever I raise alarm about the previous Facebook account.”

The Majority Leader said MPs such as Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, aka ‘Napo,’ Adwoa Safo, among others, have suffered similar fate lately.

“Since the fraudsters are not ready to quit their shameful and illegal behaviour, I have decided to come out publicly and expose their bad deeds. I am therefore saying that I am not on Facebook so the public should be on the lookout.”
