Member of Parliament of the Korle Klottey constituency, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has sent birthday wishes to his father, Jerry John Rawlings who turns 70 today June 22, 2017.
The founder of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who was the first President of the Fourth Republic, ), on 22 June 1947 came to power in Ghana as a flight lieutenant of the Ghana Air Force following a coup d’état in 1979 and, after initially handing power over to a civilian government, took back control of the country on 31 December 1981 as the Chairman of the Provisional National Defence Council.
In a facebook Post commemorating the day, her first daughter said “Wow… Dad, I can’t believe you’re 70 already, yet you keep going so strong.
“Your selflessness and love for others always astounds me. Though sometimes I wish I could keep you all for myself, I take pride in the fact that the good Lord placed a special calling on your life – to touch the lives of multitudes across nations.
“Dad, I know that some day when the roll is being called, your name, J.J Rawlings will be inscribed in gold. I’m proud to be your daughter”.
