A 35-year-old man, who alleged that a certain Alhaji Kwadwo Musah, a farmer at Yaakrom in the Dormaa district, drew his blood after giving him some substance to drink, has confessed that he concocted the story in order to dupe the farmer.

Braimah Kyereme, unemployed, on Wednesday, made the confession at the regional office of the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani in the presence of his cousin, Mr Thomas Agyeman Duah.

He conceded, “I framed up the story against Alhaji Musah because I needed money to settle a debt of ?5 million I owed a friend, a certain Adjei Amponsah, a trader in Accra.”

Kyereme observed that ever since he made the false allegations against Alhaji Musah, he had never had his peace as he had weird dreams.

He noted that he intended to ask an influential person to accompany him to Alhaji Musah to plead for forgiveness.

On February 28, this year, the Ghanaian Times published a GNA report headlined, “Farmer held for drawing neighbour’s blood”, which mentioned that Alhaji Musah was arrested by the Police at Dormaa Ahenkro for the alleged offence.

The Police told the GNA that Kyereme was found in a semi-conscious state near the Presbyterian church at Yaakrom with both legs tied together and a needle and syringe piercing the left arm.

Kyereme after regaining consciousness told the police that Alhaji Musah gave him a substance to drink, making it possible for Alhaji to draw his blood.

Alhaji Musah has been on police bail ever since, and when contacted on phone, Superintendent Charles S.M. Brew Jnr, Dormaa district Police commander, explained that after studying the docket on the case, he had found no evidence against Alhaji Musah to warrant charges being preferred against him.
