The Japanese is hoping to have the second opportunity to eeturn to Ghana after almost a year away

Former Hearts of Oak coach Kenichi Yastuhashi has expressed his interest to coach Asante Kotoko in a bid to return to Ghana.

The Kumasi giants are without a head coach following the sacking of Zdravko Lugarusic on Sunday. The Croatian left the club in a third position with 18 points and four points behind Wafa, despite going four games without a victory.

“I would like to return to Ghana Premier League and I hope to return very soon. Kotoko are one of the biggest clubs in Ghana and Africa and I’m interested in their job now that they are without a head coach,” Kenichi told Goal.

“It is a big club with lots of history and culture and everyone respect them. My agent is aware of my interest and is working around the clock so I hope to hear good news. That is all I can say now, I have no further comments,” he added.

Kotoko are currently under the leadership of assistant coach Godwin Ablordey, who was confirmed as the caretaker until the end of the first round of the season. However, with four matches remaing, the former midfielder can be made the substantive coach if he picks positive results.

Reports indicate that French coach Patrick Aussems, who holds Uefa A license and previously managed French Ligue 2 side Evian Thonan Gillard, Benin national team as well as Sudanese giants Al Hilal, has also expressed interest to replace Lugarusic.
