Collage of the former couple Clement and Rakia
A man identified as Clement is demanding a refund of GH¢150,000 from his former girlfriend, Rakia Ibrahim, after she allegedly refused to marry him despite sponsoring her tertiary education.
Speaking in a video shared by Oyerepa TV and sighted by GhanaWeb on June 3, 2026, the man, believed to be in his mid-thirties, narrated how he supported Rakia financially throughout her years in teachers’ training college.
According to him, their relationship began on a serious note after Rakia introduced him to her mother, who allegedly sought assurance that he was not married.
“When she took me to meet her mum, she asked me if I was not married because she did not want a situation where her child would be accused of snatching someone’s husband,” Clement recounted.
He explained that following the meeting, he took full responsibility for her educational expenses and other financial needs until she completed school.
“From that point onwards, I provided for her needs until she completed school. Soon after completing school, she started giving me the cold shoulder,” he lamented.

Clement further alleged that his former partner became distant and threatened to block his number whenever he persistently called to seek answers about the state of their relationship.
“When I demanded answers as to why she was not picking my calls, she said she would block me on her phone if I continued calling her,” he claimed.
However, Rakia Ibrahim, when contacted for her side of the story, maintained that she never forced Clement to sponsor her education and therefore was under no obligation to marry him.
The incident has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many debating whether financial support in relationships should come with expectations of marriage.
