I didn’t have to ask, force; Nyantakyi 'run his mouth' all by himself - Anas

Contrary to claims and suggestions that he coerced and entrapped resigned

Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi to retrieve information for his explosive documentary, Ace Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has said that the former didn’t need any push to ‘blab’ and produce all the information his team; the Tiger Eye needed for their work.

Narrating the sequence of events as they happened at a public forum at the University of Ghana Thursday, he said, “People have spoken about entrapment and all that in this particular investigation and when they say that, they make specific reference to our encounter with Kwesi Nyantakyi. This is the chronology of events, now we get to the base where the investigation is going to be conducted. The man is welcomed from the airport, he gets to his hotel room and the first thing he begins to tell us is how to scam the GFA”

“He gives us a proper procedure, something that I did not even know and takes me through a lecture of how you can form a shell company to be able to use it to fleece money off the investors and also to use that same company to fleece off money from the GFA. This was unsolicited, he himself gave me a roadmap, told me so you put this company here, you charge 5% here, here you come and charge 25%, I’m not a football person, of course I read generally but the insight, the deep knowledge that he demonstrated”.

“This was even before we had met the so-called investor. So we went to meet the investor with a plan that he Kwesi Nyantakyi had proposed himself and yet people make it seem as if I forced him to speak. He gave me the information, I didn’t even request for it”, he noted.

Anas maintained that the monies given to Kwesi Nyantakyi as captured in the cameras were not monies which influenced the former GFA Boss to speak or blab in any way, he stressed. In fact, the Tiger Eye team got every bit of information before the money factor came up.

“The second leg, we went to the investor and people are talking about ‘the money might have influenced him to say all those, it’s the money’. He made all those points before the money was handed over to him. So by the time we could say jack, the man had mentioned and dropped names and done everything, the last bit was when the money was given to him”, he explained.

Kwesi Nyantakyi, following the damning revelations in Anas’ latest investigative piece dubbed; ‘Number 12’ said in a statement that he had been deceived by ‘scammers’ who lured him into thinking they were genuine persons interested in investing in the country.

Some other public figures and politicians have condemned and criticized Anas’ method of unveiling rot, describing it as unethical and an invasion of another person’s privacy.

Meanwhile he has petitioned FIFA to ban Nyantakyi for life for the misconduct although the latter is already serving a 90-day ban from FIFA,

Anas in a 10-page petition to the world football governing body indicated that the audio-visual evidence gathered by himself and his TigerEye PI team showed that Mr. Nyantakyi had breached a number of FIFA’s regulations and codes, warranting a lifetime ban from all football activities.

Kwesi Nyantakyi has resigned from his position as president of the GFA, President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B, FIFA Council, Vice President of CAF, and FIFA Associations Committee Member.

He is still being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service following a complaint filed by President Akufo-Addo after watching excerpts of Anas’ video that showed the former using the president’s name to persuade foreign investors to part with $12 million in order to facilitate the approval of government contracts for them.

The government has initiated moves to dissolve the Ghana Football Association.

It has also set up a 5-member interim committee to manage football in the country after securing a 10-day injunction on the Ghana Football Association.
