The newly elected member of the Council of State to represent the Greater Accra Region, Dr Nii Kotei Dzani, has dismissed rumours that he did not lobby the former Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency, ET Mensah, to step down. “I did not lobby E.T Mensah,” he insisted.

“He is my uncle but I have not seen him for many times. The only time I saw him was yesterday [Thursday] when he called me at the venue and said he has stepped down.”

Dr Dzani, who polled 20 out of the 32 total valid votes cast, made this known in an interview on Onua FM’s Yen Nsempa hosted by Bright Asempa on Friday, February 17.

He also bemoaned the partisan politics in the country, describing it as “appalling”. “I don’t want to engage myself in partisan politics because it is appalling but the Council of State job is not partisan that is why I contested. “I entered because it is not partisan politics,” he explained.

Elections for regional representatives to serve on the Council of State took place on Thursday across the country. Madam Eunice Jacqueline Buah won the Western Region bid, Kwadwo Agyenim Boateng won Brong Ahafo Region’s bid and Yakubu S. Nantogmah got the nod to represent the Northern Region.

The rest are Agona Akrofosohene Nana Owusu Achiaw for Ashanti Region, Richard Babini Kanton IV for Upper West Region, Dr. Nii Kotei Dzani for Greater Accra Region and Robert D. Mosore for the Upper East Region.

Obrempong Appiah Nuamah II got the nod for Central Region, Francis Albert Seth Nyonyo for Volta Region and Nana Somuah Mireku- Nyampong for the Eastern Region.
