The New Juaben Municipal Director of the National Health Insurance Authority has refuted claims he tendered his resignation following threats by the Eastern Region NPP communication officer, to forcibly oust him from office if he fails to leave.
Last Thursday, the NPP Eastern Regional communication officer, David Prah had threatened to use party vigilante group, the invisible forces, to oust the manager from office because the latter served as the election director of the past government and therefore does not deserve the portfolio.
Some online news portals attributed his resignation to the threat to eject him from office if he fails to resign.
But sources close to the Eastern Regional Office of NHIA indicates that Mr.Gyeke Darko tendered his resignation letter to allow him pursue further studies outside the shores of Ghana.
Excerpts of the resignation letter corroborated he resigned to further his education having taken the decision months ago.
The Source at the Regional Office of the NHIA indicated that this is the second time the NHIA Director had submitted his resignation.
According to the source, after the 2016 election, he presented a resignation letter but it was rejected by the authority due to his outstanding performance.
He is said to have caused the Akropong Office of NHIA to win best district office in the region for 2010 and 2011.
When he took over New Juaben Municipal office subsequently, the office was consecutively adjudged best performing NHIA office in the region in 2013, 2014 and 2015 while in 2016, the New Juaben office was listed best among the well-performed offices of NHIA nationwide.
When contacted, Kojo Gyeke-Darko confirmed he took the decision to allow him undertake his postgraduate program.
