Deputy Central Regional Minister, Aquinas Tawiah Quansah has condemned the violent posturing and loose commentaries made by the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly called Sir John.

The Regional Minister said Mr Owusu Afriyie’s declaration of lawlessness and the threat that the country would be ungovernable should any of the members in leadership be arrested by the security officers, made him doubt if he is a lawyer.

As if told to do so, General Secretary of Ghana Labour Front, Mr Abraham Koomson had also chastised the leadership of the NPP for allowing its members and supporters to engage in uncivilized protest, despite legal alternatives available for redress.

Mr Koomson said he was traumatized about the behavior of a party that has several lawyers and judges to sit unconcerned while its supporters were on rampage.

Sir John last Wednesday told an Accra based radio station that “if they make the wrong move by arresting any of our officers they will know no peace and this country will suffer for that” The NPP’s secretary added that, “we are not scared to be arrested but if they try to arrest any of us we will make this country ungovernable.”

But in a sharp respond to Sir John’s comment on Agoo FM, Mr Acquinas Quansah who retained the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary seat for Mfanstiman West Constituency said “I don’t believe Sir John is a lawyer”.

He noted that if the leadership of the NPP really loved Ghanaians they would not call them onto the street, asking them to demonstrate over the result of peaceful, free and fair election, stating “the NPP was only playing a mischief for their humiliating defeat”.

Meanwhile, The Herald is reliably informed that former Information Minister under Kufuor administration Asamoah Boateng after failing to win the Mfanstiman West seat refused to append his signature against the results.
