Former Municipal Chief Executive [MCE] for Ejisu/Juaben in the Ashanti region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponko says he does not have any confidence that the newly elected Ashanti regional National Democratic Congress’ [NDC] chairman, Augustus Andrew Nana Kwasi, will ensure victory for the party in the region.

Yamoah Ponko says, he wished, former Deputy Sports Minister, Joseph Yamin whom he campaigned for, had won, however ‘majority carry the vote,’ hence the majority voting for Nana Kwasi.

“I have never had any confidence in the guy [Nana Kwasi], but he’s the one the majority prefer, so what do we do? That’s why I’m saying this time around we’re not going to sit down…. Nobody is going to dictate to anybody.

“We’re going to take the battle in our own hands, work hard and make sure we get what we want,” Yamoah Ponko said on the Platform programme on Peace FM on Monday night, September 3.

According to him, although he has no confidence in the newly elected chairman, they will work hard to make sure that the party triumphs in the 2020 elections in the Ashanti region.

Mr Ponko’s comments come few days after the NDC regional elections were held across the country over the weekend.

The election saw most of the bigwigs in the party losing various positions they contested, including Joseph Yamin who lost the chairmanship race in the Ashanti region with former Minister of Transport Dzifa Aku Ativor losing same in the Volta region.
