The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has criticised a decision by the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voters register.
The EC intends to compile a new voters register for next year's election. However, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other political pundits have opposed this decision.
Kwesi Pratt, who was speaking to the issue on Tuesday's edition of Peace FM morining show 'Kokrokoo', also feels there's no need for a new register.
"The Electoral Commission says there is nothing wrong with the voters register and that it is credible yet they want to compile a new register. They claim they have removed names of dead people and that of those who have registered twice. I don’t understand and I think it is not necessary. If everything has been done to make the register better, if you claim there is nothing wrong with the current register then why produce a new one? The voter's register in 2012 and 2016 didn't affect the results of the elections in any way so i don't understand why they insist on producing a new voters' register. It is not needed," he stated.
