President of the World Miracle Outreach, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, has said that he feels embarrassed and sad over Samuel Dubik Mahama's resignation as Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), emphasising that he was not given the needed support to continue his work.

Speaking on GTV Breakfast Show on Friday, September 27, 2024, he described him as a hardworking young man who was very passionate about his job.

"Samuel is such a brilliant young man. He had a lot of passion for the work. This is someone I have prayed with. I have known him from the time he was little. He was on the ground with the collections people. He had a lot of passion for the work.

"What he was doing, it was not that he wanted to gain anything. He left a mark. I have seen him go round doing work on things that certain engineers do. We were doing a crusade, and this gentleman walks to the crusade ground to see if the equipment and everything is in order. This is the kind of gentleman we needed. I think, I feel very sad and embarrassed that this man was not supported, and he left his position," he explained.

Rev. Lawrence Tetteh urged the public to refrain from politicising his resignation.

"I wish someone can talk to him to get him back again. Look at someone filling the gap. Look at how much revenue he got for ECG. It is not right. We should not politicise the issue. My prayers are with you. I know the way you feel now, for you to have resigned voluntarily, I can imagine the pressure. I know the same God that brought you this far will take you to higher ground.

"Please as a nation, let us learn to protect the good people. These are few people who are selfless. Look at how this young man came to transform the whole ECG. In spite of all the hullabaloo, he made sure he kept his hand strong. He cannot be frustrated to the point that he gives up and I think that is not fair. We are proud of you. You have bowed out honorably.”

He continued, "Look at how much revenue he got for the state. Let's learn to protect good people. These are few people. He should be frustrated. Samuel, we are proud of you. You have bowed out honourably. Some people wait till they are fired. You have shown that you are principled.”

On Thursday, September 27, 2024, the Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, announced his resignation citing personal reasons.

"I have concluded that it is in my best interest to step away for personal reasons," portions of his resignation, read.

Dubik Mahama was appointed by President Akufo-Addo in May 2022 following the statutory retirement of the former Managing Director, Kwame Agyeman-Budu.

His last days were characterised by seemingly bad blood between the Company and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).
