The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Hon. Osei-Asibey Antwi has reacted to the allegations leveled against him by the Ashanti Regional (A/R) Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah for being responsible for the delays in allowing traders to occupy the newly-constructed Kejetia market. Mypurefmonline.com reports.
The A/R Minister in an interview on ‘Pure Morning Drive’ on Friday, November 8, 2019, with sit-in-host Kojo Marfo alleged that the KMA and its chief executive is to be blamed for the delays in moving traders to the market structures so as to commence with the phase 2 of the projects.
He made this allegation in his defense after the Kejetia Traders Association in a press conference yesterday, 7th November 2019, addressed by Mr. Kwabena Obeng called for his immediate dismissal as the regional Minister after he ordered the KMA to stop distribution of keys to shop owners of the newly constructed Kejetia market.
In a reaction, the Kumasi Mayor thwarted the regional Minister’s allegation stating that his outfit has fully followed through with the Minister’s directive and is currently rectifying issues like ‘premium payment’ and ‘rift between shop owners and tenants.’
“Kojo, it is difficult to talk on matters of administration on-air as it creates the impression that there exists a sour relationship but we have consistently re-echoed the Minister’s position to the traders.
Concerning the Minister’s directive, KMA has already followed through.” He told sit-in-host, Kojo Marfo on ‘Pure Morning Drive’ Friday, November 8.
Asked if he had a cordial relationship with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Osei Asibey Antwi sharply dismissed the assertion that they both are not on good terms and remarked that, they have a fine decent relationship.
