Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) executive Paul Boateng has stirred conversations with his prediction of a narrow victory for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in Ghana’s 2024 elections.
Boateng forecasts that Bawumia will clinch 50.6% of the votes, securing 142 parliamentary seats for the NPP.
Speaking in an interview with Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, Boateng explained that his prediction is based on a detailed survey he conducted using a variety of metrics and data.
“I’ve analyzed the trends and studied the patterns, and all indications point to a decisive win for Dr. Bawumia. The numbers don’t lie. Bawumia will win by any means necessary,” he asserted confidently, emphasizing the thoroughness of his research.
When pressed on whether this predicted victory would be achieved fairly or through underhanded means, Boateng responded candidly.
He elaborated that elections in Africa often involve strategic manoeuvres beyond the ballot box, alluding to the intense competition and tactics that shape outcomes in the region.
“Politics in Africa is about strategy and determination. No one enters the race to lose, and Bawumia understands this as much as any other leader,” he added.
This bold forecast comes at a time when Ghana’s political landscape is heating up, with John Dramani Mahama of the NDC and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP locked in a high-stakes contest.
Boateng’s comments, particularly his suggestion that Bawumia could adopt “any means necessary,” have sparked discussions about the integrity of Ghana’s electoral processes and the broader implications of such tactics on democracy.
