Leading NPP Member, Kennedy Agyapong has bashed Akufo-Addo for the manner in which he is implementing a flagship programme he used for campaign resulting in his famous electoral victory in 2016.

The Assin Central MP bemoaned the uncoordinated manner the government is implementing its $1 million per constituency initiative which was geared towards decentralised development.

The MP disclosed that most people at the constituency especially the leaders he has interacted with claim to have little knowledge about the activities the money is being used for and those executing the projects.

As the representative of his constituency, Kennedy Agyapong asserted he has no knowledge of the construction of public toilets and provision of water that the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives claims to be implementing.

Kennedy Agyapong questioned the quality of work done on already completed projects and the cost element involved insisting that the kind of work done in his constituency does not merit the $1 million the government claims is allocated to the constituency.

This he believes is the case in other parts of the country and cautioned the government led by Akufo-Addo to reassess the programme and modify it to better benefit the people.

“$1 million per constituency I have a problem with it because recently when I met my party constituency executives they were angry. I recently met them they said explained that they thought the money for the projects will be brought to the District Assemblies but when they enquired they were told it is toilet and water that will be provided for them with the money. I am the MP of that area but I am not even aware who are building them and where. I asked to know where the toilet in the constituency was sited and they told me it was located by a heap of rubbish we walked past to get to the venue of the meeting. You can’t tell me that building is $1million. They also told me the water claimed to have been provided was a tank by the facility used to flush the toilet. I thought it was boreholes but when that’s what they showed me. I will not sit here and defend anybody. As for this I will say, we are not feeling the $1 million. I haven’t” he remarked during a radio interview.
