Accra, Dec 14, GNA- Alhaji Malik Al-Hassan Yakubu, Member of Parliament for Yendi, on Tuesday said his re-election has re-established his innocence in the assassination of the Ya-Na Yakubu Andani, Paramount Chief of Dagbon Traditional Area and brightened his political career.

"People who genuinely believed that I was innocent have been vindicated. Those, who thought my political career had ended drew a bad card, and I think that the victory has clarified a lot of issues in our minds."

The Member, who had to resign his Interior Ministerial post after the assassination of the Dagbon Overlord, was speaking to the GNA in Parliament House.

He said the fact that he won at the place where he was accused of masterminding a mass murder should tell Ghanaians a story.

"But I know that time, just time would put everything right. I am only happy that there are some sincere minded people who see things differently."

He said the three seats in Tamale fell to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) because the voters in that city were seriously misled.

"People fed on the Dagbon misfortune and misinformed the people, other factors had been linked to political issues. High profile people who were seen as trustworthy led the misinformation wagon." The Member for Yendi said in due course Dagbon would know the truth and act accordingly.

According to him, getting back his Cabinet post was not a priority "but serving the people who genuinely believe in me would be my occupation".
