'I have no bitterness in me' – Ernesto Yeboah speaks after 26-hour police detention

Leader of the Economic Fighters League, Ernesto Yeboah has said he’s not filled with anger after he was detained by the police at the Accra Regional Police Headquarters despite being granted GH¢100,000 bail.

According to him, their action has rather empowered him to strive harder to dismantle systems that prevent the growth of the country.

He averred that nothing can break him in his fight for a better Ghana though he’s been persecuted.

Ernesto Yeboah announced that “this is a fight rooted in love. I, therefore, have no bitterness in me. We are fighting against a system that has its knee on our necks; we are fighting against a system that is choking us - we can’t breathe.”

Taking to his Facebook page to share his experience while in police grips, he said “We are aware that to dismantle this rotten system we will be fought and persecuted, but we are strengthened in our conviction for a new and better society for all. They may imprison our body, but they cannot imprison our conviction for a better society.”

Ernesto Yeboah was arrested on Saturday, June 6 at a George Floyd vigil held at the Black Star Square (Independence Square) in Accra and was charged with failure to notify the police of a special event contrary to the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491) section 1(1).

He pleaded not guilty and the court granted him bail with three sureties; two of whom are to be public servants.
