Hearts of Oak board member Frank Nelson has rubbished reports circulating in the local media that head coach Kenichi Yastuhashi is on his way out of the club after failing to win the inaugural Ghalca G6 competition.
The Japanese-American had admitted he was tasked by his employers to redeem his image with the Ghalca trophy after poor results from three preseason friendly matches lost by the Phobians, with nine goals conceded.
“We had a meeting on Monday like we always do to look at the way forward for the club,” Nelson told Ghanasoccernet.
“After the meeting, I was the last person to leave the premises. Kenichi is [still] our coach and we hold the firm conviction that he is the right man for the job,” he added.
Asante Kotoko won the Ghalca G6 tournament after defeating Aduana Stars 1-0 in the final thanks to a second-half spot kick from Halipha Sedego.
