The Minister of Communication and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has disowned a statement attributed to her in sections of the media as having apologized over comments she made when she addressed sensational musician Ebony’s One-Week rites at Dansoman in Accra.

In an exclusive response to mynewsgh.com, the Minister has denied ever issuing any statement and or speaking to anyone about the incident.

The statement allegedly coming from her apologizing to the “family and friends of Ebony…” is therefore to be disregarded and treated with contempt, mynewsgh.com can authoritatively report.

A video which has gone viral on social media captured the Communication Minister Mrs Owusu-Ekuful saying she was saddened by the loss of the hiplife artiste, Ebony, who was her constituent because she has lost one vote by the death of the musician.

Social media users didn’t take likely to the statement leading to the minister receiving flak.

Part of the now confirmed ‘fake’ statement read:

“I wish to first and foremost apologise to the family and friends of Ebony who are hurt by the spin on my words which were taken completely out of context. Those behind it as confirmed, being some NDC hirelings and rented journalists intended to have me be the object of ridicule and abuse on social media and possibly have me reshuffled by H.E the President as a Minister, have already failed.” reads part of the statement.

“That is not part of my nature as a politician who has lived all her life showing respect and dignity to all manner of persons, dead or alive, which those close to me, including President Nana Akufo-Addo, know.”
